SUMMARY

  • Gidi Baum's old Wulff surface code has been retrieved (from pre-1990 backups) and reactivated.
  • New MATLAB codes with well-documented GUI interfaces are ready to apply to study the Wulff construction and create cut crystals with interfaces having different types of twisted or tilted contacts.
  • These crystals are ready to use in future simulations.
  • Surface energies of the interfaces have been calculated and analyzed.
    Conclusions:
    1. Twisted interface surface energy close to zero when rotation is zero.
    2. In infinite boundary case surface energy close to constant because no. of bonds do not change a lot while rotating.
    3. In the tilted case a much stronger angular dependence is seen.
  • Vizualizations in AViz using bonds of predetermined lengths enable quick viewing of interface natures.
