DISCRETE OBJECT VISUALIZATION
Starting from the middle of the course, discrete object visualization is needed.
PGPLOT is good for 2D.
Many chemical atomic codes, most expensive, limited in number
of objects, and inflexible for defects, grain boundaries etc.
Hence we developed own OpenGL code for research use and I also use for teaching.
AViz is a postprocessing code that can be batch or interactive.
Hence I teach AViz in class, using my own tutorial material.
I know there are lots of other ways to visualize - in fact am writing a paper with the Enthought python people comparing codes, (they are part of SimPhoNy). But my needs are for visualization in a Computational Physics class to help teach algorithms.
