This is a ``flipped'' class before I knew you were supposed to call it that.

OUTLINE of MODERN PHYSICS COURSE

  • Follows a semester of mechanics and a semester of electricity and magnetism for engineers.
  • Emphasises concepts rather than mathematical details.
  • (First half in more mathematical detail as quantum mechanics for majors, but can and do use same visualizations.)
  • Second half covers condensed matter, nuclear physics and particle physics at a superficial level for the engineers.
