TOPIC: developing an efficient atomistic visualization and pre-processing tool: AViz

AViz can be used in several distinct modes:

  • Electronic density visualization, discussed yesterday in the DFT context, using its dot mode.
  • Spin (vector) visualization, using vectors, either arrows or cones.
  • Liquid crystal/pores/quadrupoles visualization, using cylinders or sticks.
  • Atomic mode, using spheres.

The latter three use solid objects of varying quality. In all of these, bonds can be introduced at chosen lengths, with optional polymer connectivity and analyglyphic stereo can be used. Unfortunately, as of today, only one mode can be implemented at a time.

Nathan Franklin and Adham Hashibon have done a great job of modernising AViz and setting up the GITHUB files.
